Kitchen Appliance Cover Explained

What is kitchen appliance insurance, and what does it cover?

Insurance for domestic appliances typically covers the repair or replacement cost of major white goods (such as ovens, dishwashers, freezers, etc.) that are damaged accidentally. This policy could be a suitable option for those who own costly kitchen appliances and are looking for an all-encompassing protection solution. It is also helpful in providing a financial cushion should any valuable items suffer catastrophic failure over time.

What are the benefits of getting a policy for your appliances from us?

Kitchen appliance insurance from 24|7 Home Rescue can help you in the event of appliance breakdowns and cover the cost of repairs. Our policy covers mechanical and electrical breakdowns and accidental damage caused to your insured appliance.

Furthermore, if our expert engineers cannot repair your appliance, which we have been covering for at least six months, after assessing that it is beyond economical repair, then we will contribute to replacement with a voucher worth up to £1,000.

Can I cover multiple home appliances under one policy?

You cannot have multiple appliances covered under a single policy. However, we have different policies for particular appliances. This is because each appliance has a unique price point and requires individual coverage.

How does kitchen appliance insurance differ from the manufacturers or extended warranty coverage?

Kitchen appliance insurance is a valuable investment that provides coverage for a fixed monthly fee. It’s important to note that purchasing a policy isn’t necessary when buying a new appliance, as most come with a manufacturer’s warranty. However, you can still get coverage if you have an older machine two to three years old or even older.

The manufacturer or extended warranties are typically included with the appliance at the time of purchase but also can be purchased separately and can last up to eight years. It’s important to note that extended warranties may not cover accidental damage, and some may not cover parts and labour.

One of the most significant benefits of appliance insurance is that it covers accidental damage, which is not typically covered by manufacturer warranties or extended warranties. Additionally, appliance insurance provides claims assistance and, in some cases, even appliance replacement, subject to terms and conditions.

Is it worth getting an appliance insurance policy?

Yes, it is! Appliance insurance policies cover the cost of mechanical, electrical, and accidental damage caused to your home appliances used daily. Furthermore, these policies include an excess fee which the insured must pay before any benefits become available. The major advantage of appliance insurance is that homeowners experiencing sudden appliance failure can be reimbursed for some portion of the repair and replacement costs.

Buying appliance insurance can give you peace of mind and a sense of security in case a mechanical, electrical, or accidental failure of an appliance happens when you least expect it.

Can I cancel my kitchen appliances policy at any time?

If you cancel your agreement within 14 days, you won’t have to pay a fee, and we’ll return any premiums you’ve already paid. If you cancel outside the 14-day cooling-off period and have not made a claim, there will be no cancellation fee.

However, you may be liable for a cancellation fee if you have made an accepted claim. To cancel your policy, you can send an email to [email protected] or call our helpline.

How do I make a claim if one of my covered appliances breaks down?

When you experience an unexpected appliance breakdown, you must report a claim within 24 hours of the incident. To make a claim, call our Claims Helpline at 0345 0774 177. After accepting your claim, we will discuss the timing of your repair or assistance with you via phone, email, or text.

We make every effort to schedule an appointment with the engineer to ensure that your repair is completed.

As a landlord, should I get a kitchen appliance policy for my tenants?

If you are providing your tenants with white goods, it is a good idea to protect yourself by buying appliance cover to provide extra protection to your tenants and save you time in the event of a breakdown.

Are there any restrictions on the age or condition of appliances that can be covered?

Your agreement with 24|7 Home Rescue does not cover any appliance that is more than seven years old before the start date of your contract or is more than ten years old at the time of renewal of your policy.

Furthermore, your agreement does not cover any damage caused by deliberate actions, misuse, modifications, neglect, or a lack of maintenance.
